– You know that summer is on the way when eating breakfast out, says our youngest son Zack. And he is so right. It will be a really lovely pre-summer weekend here in Vaxholm. Already at six o’clock in the morning when I got up to bake the breakfast bread to the guests the thermometer showed over 10 degrees and the sun shone from a clear blue sky. Just in time for breakfast, it was almost too hot to sit on the porch. Wonderful!
The rest of the day I have alternated between cleaning the guest apartments for today’s check-ins and pottering in the garden. My small plants that have been sprouting in the kitchen window had to be replanted, and so should the roses be cut now that the birch buds … Ideally I would have liked to saw the carrots, radishes and some more summer flowers out of the country too, but decided that it will have to wait a few more days. Instead, Jesper and I took a walk around the town center and the quays to the lovely Café Hembygdsgården.
There were more people who had come to the idea. Jeez what people! Yet we came when it “had cooled off” as Johanna and Eva, who runs the place said. We managed to get a table right by the water and sat there a long time and just enjoyed the delicious bakeries and the relaxing atmosphere.
If you don’t have any plans for the weekend I really recommend a tour with the Waxholm boat out here. Café Hembygdsgården promises to set the table its sumptuous cake buffet from 11am to 5 pmthroughout the weekend, the shops are open and all the outdoor restaurants too. It is early summer in Vaxholm!
